Double Eyelid Surgery
The incisional technique of double eyelid surgery is a modern operation that incorporates advances in non-Asian blepharoplasty with an improved understanding of the anatomic mechanism of natural crease formation in the Asian eyelid.
Compared to the static crease created by older suture techniques, the new crease is "dynamic" and appears only when the eyes are opened. Because skin and sometimes fat and muscle may be removed as indicated, the technique allows for a much higher degree of customization patient to patient. Furthermore, the surgical crease is permanent because it depends upon an internal anatomic rearrangement rather than simple suture knots that can weaken very quickly.
